about

Not long after lockdown in 2020, I knew I should simply put my head down and finally make some music. Of course, I know I wasn't alone. In a way that makes it even better, knowing I was part of a massive, unspoken agreement that in the face of necessary isolation, a bunch of us would go off and do the same thing -- but with different results.

My task every week was to make something and call it done. Deadlines, even when they are artificial have great powers. You end up making choices instead of dithering. And as a musician who has done a lot of procrastinating this helped me get unstuck as well as helped give me something to lose myself in during a pandemic.

Coincidentally, I was learning to make music in ways I'd never really done before. After decades of exclusively writing songs on guitar I was bored with the process and the instrument. As a result, for me this album is a nice way to document all the new ways I was learning to make music.

Is it all good? Nope. But it's all done and that makes me super happy.

I hope you enjoy something out of this as well.

about

Sycamore Willow San Francisco, California

I love making murky music -- ambient, drones and even songs with beats. I use effects pedals, tape and other fun toys to design sounds and textures to create dreamy atmospheres. I'm forever making the soundtrack to an imagined film.
